UNILAK students are engaged in conversations about their country’s history and pressingissues on campus

In a collaborative effort between Rwanda National Students Association, Ministry of National
Unity and Civic Engagement and Ministry of Education; UNILAK students were engaged in
conversations about their country’s history, the fight against genocide deniers and combating
drug abuse and undesirable behaviors among university students.
“One of the key focuses of the conversations is to educate students about the nation’s history,
particularly the tragic events of the past, including genocide;” said Dr. Assoumpta Muhayisa,
the Executive Director of Memory and Genocide Prevention at the Ministry of National Unity
and Civic Engagement.
Through interactive sessions, the UNILAK students aim to combat genocide denial and promote
historical understanding and reconciliation.
Additionally, the tour addresses the pressing issue of drug abuse and other negative behaviors
prevalent among university students. The Rwanda National Students Association and country
officials are actively involved in these discussions, offering insights into policies and support
systems that can help create a safer and healthier campus environment.
With strong support from the Rwanda National Students Association and country officials, this
collaborative effort strives for a brighter future for university students across the nation.
