Dr. NYESHEJA MUHIRE Enan
Dean Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences
Dr. NYESHEJA M. Enan is a PhD degree holder in Satellite Imagery Analysis and Cartography obtained from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in China. He has a Master of Computer Applications from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India and a Bachelor degree in Information Management Systems from the Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA). He served as an Acting Head and Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology in the University of Rwanda (Former KIST) from 1999 to 2008. From 2008 to date, he served as the Director of ICT and Senior Lecturer. He was appointed Dean of Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences in 2021. He published and co-authored more than 25 research papers in international journals and conferences. He supervised master’s programme students and worked as an external examiner for PhD students in UR and UNILAK as well as in ACEIoT (African Center of Excellence in Internet of Things) based in UR( University of Rwanda). His research interests cover Remote Sensing, Geographical Information Systems, Land use and Cover Change, Data Mining, Internet of Things and Machine Learning.
Message from the Dean
The programmes offered by the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences include Software Engineering, Networking, Multimedia and Information Systems Management for Undergraduate students. At the level of Master’s programme, the faculty offers Master of Information Technology (MIT) and Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MIS).
The Faculty imparts the knowledge and skills required for the students to become competent and brilliant in the broader domain of Information Technology and other related disciplines. The students are also encouraged to work on challenging projects and given exposure to industry oriented practices. The Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences focus is on holistic learning to help the students to make significant contributions to the Information Technology industry and serve the society and the country at large. The Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences has more than 600 students and 26 faculty members.
The Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences always strives to keep its curricula updated with the recent technological advancements and best practices of the Information Technology industry. The Faculty has State-of-the-art infrastructure for teaching-learning, research and consultancy. The Faculty has strong linkages with leading IT companies and research organizations. It has many Computer Laboratories and Incubation Centers.
The Faculty of Computing has the following constituent departments for UG:
– Software Engineering (SE)
– Information Technology (IT) with two options : Networking and Multimedia
– Information Systems Management (ISM)
