Dr. Christine K UMUMARARUNGU

Dean Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management

Dr Christine K. Umumararungu is a Senior Lecturer at University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK) and currently occupies the position of Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management. She has an experience of more than 16 years of teaching in different Universities and an interesting background in research and publication. Dr Christine holds a PhD and Maters in Business Management with specialization in Human Resource Management and a Bachelors degree in Education. Dr Christine is a recognized reviewer of Journal of Social Sciences and got an appreciation certificate from the journal. She has attended and participated in different national and international conferences, workshops, seminars and trainings and published a considerable number of papers in International Journal of Research in Business and Social Sciences. Moreover, she is a consultant in Human Resource Management related issues especially in recruitment and selection of employees as well as HR advisory services.

 Message from the Dean

 

Welcome to the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management (FESM) at University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK). The faculty of Economic Sciences and Management was established to empower students with managerial skills as well as help them upgrade their entrepreneurial skills.

We equip students with managerial skills in three campuses of UNILAK namely Kigali campus located in Kigali city, Rwamagana campus in Eastern Province and Nyanza campus in southern province. The Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management has six Departments namely Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Cooperative Management and Accounting and Marketing. The Faculty has 40 full time academic staff supported by part time lecturers who mainly contribute in connecting academic programs with industry.

In addition, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management accommodates business incubation centre that provides a wide range of services including students’ support in generating and developing business ideas to be transformed into prototypes serving as a bridge between the academia and the industry. The Faculty is also involved in cooperative development activities through provision of different services including trainings to cooperative managers and members.

Mission

Our mission is to promote excellent quality of teaching, research and service to the community. Graduates from the Faculty are outfitted with practical skills which tackle national and international interests. They are expected to be change promoters through different skills gained from their different Departments within the Faculty.

Vision

The faculty of Economic Sciences and Management endeavors to be a hub of innovation and creativity focusing on developing students’ ability and confidence in job creation at global and local levels.
