The University of Lay Adventists of Kigali (UNILAK) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR), following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 3rd, 2025.

The MoU sets the stage for enhanced mutual cooperation in the development and promotion of Rwanda’s cooperative sector. Through this partnership, both institutions aim to drive forward research, capacity building, and innovation within the cooperative and microfinance ecosystem.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, officials from UNILAK and AMIR highlighted the importance of leveraging academic expertise and industry insights to strengthen cooperative societies and microfinance institutions across the country. The collaboration is expected to yield joint research projects, training programs, workshops, and other capacity-building initiatives.

This partnership aligns with Rwanda’s broader vision of promoting inclusive economic growth through a robust cooperative movement, and UNILAK reaffirmed its commitment to using its academic resources to support community-centered development.

The MoU is a milestone in bridging academic knowledge with practical solutions, ensuring that cooperatives continue to play a vital role in the country’s socio-economic advancement.
